People attend Haunted Houses to get scared – period. It’s all about the “feeling the emotion”. So, why do Haunted House Owners spend the majority of their budget on advertising that doesn’t create an emotion? It just doesn’t make sense.
Think of it like this. If you see a scary monster in a print advertisement, you might read it. (billboard, newspaper, magazines). If you hear a scary radio commercial (if it’s produced really well), you may experience some emotion – which we call “theatre of the mind”. However, when you watch a video, or see a TV commercial, you are combining Sight, Sound, Motion and Emotion. TV advertising capitalizes on the audio/video strengths, while print is restricted to static visual input, which doesn’t reinforce the message
